Miljøterapeutisk arbeid med ungdom med psykiske lidelser på barnevernsinstitusjon

Abstract

Temaet jeg ønsker å belyse i min bacheloroppgave er miljøterapeutisk arbeid med ungdom med psykiske lidelser på barnevernsinstitusjoner, med problemstillingen: Hvordan kan man forstå og imøtekomme ungdom med psykiske lidelser på barnevernsinstitusjon?

Per 2021 bodde det 1100 ungdom over 13 år på barnevernsinstitusjoner rundt om i Norge. Blant disse var det omtrent 76% som hadde en eller flere psykiske lidelser de strevde med på daglig basis. I 2022 kom innføring av 3-årig barnevern-, sosionom eller vernepleierutdanning for å arbeide ved barnevernsinstitusjoner, i hensikt om å øke grunnkompetansen. Dette kan være følge av at Forandringsfabrikken i lengre tid har kommentert på bruk av tvang ved institusjoner og hvordan de blir møtt av de ansatte. Spørsmålet blir da hvordan man skal bruke kompetansen sin til å imøtekomme de aller mest sårbare på barnevernsinstitusjoner på riktig måte, og hvordan forstå disse slik dem selv opplever livssituasjonen sin.

Metoden jeg har brukt for å finne teorien og forskningen som kan belyse problemstillingen min, er litteraturstudie. Jeg har avgrenset oppgaven til å fokusere på de følelsesmessige psykiske lidelsene, angst- og depresjonslidelser, hos ungdom på omsorgsinstitusjoner, og ønsker å oppnå kunnskap rundt hvordan å imøtekomme og forstå disse. Drøftingen min kretser metodikker innenfor sosialpedagogikken og miljøterapi, med blant annet fokus på traumebevissthet og god relasjonskompetansen.

The topic I wish to elaborate on in my bachelor’s thesis is how to precede in environmental therapeutic work with adolescents, who are diagnosed with mental disorders in child welfare institutions. I wish to proceed with the following thesis question: How can someone understand and accommodate adolescents with mental disorders in child welfare institutions?

As by 2021, around 1100 adolescents over the age of thirteen, lived in child welfare institutions in Norway. Amongst these, about 76% had one or more mental disorders they struggled with daily. In 2022, the law introduced a 3-year child welfare, social educator, or social work education to bulletproof the basic competence amongst the employees in child welfare institutions. This may be due to the fact that “Forandringsfabrikken” for a long time has commented on the use of coercion at institutions and how the employees’ meet adolescents. The following question is consequently how to complement this expertise while accommodating the most vulnerable in child welfare institutions, and how to understand their situations through their perspectives.

The method I have used to do my research is a literature study. I have limited my thesis to focus on the emotional mental disorders, anxiety- and depression disorders, in adolescents within child welfare institutions and want to gain knowledge about how to accommodate and understand these individuals. My discussion revolves around methodologies within social pedagogy and environmental therapy, including a focus on trauma awareness and good relational competence.
