Abstract

Inneværende bacheloroppgave presenterer en verkanalyse som tar for seg problemstillingen om hvordan filmteknikk kan benyttes i musikkvideoer for å bidra til en større og fullere opplevelse av en artists musikk. Analysen gjør et dypdykk i musikkvideoene artisten The Weeknd har publisert fra begynnelsen av karrieren hans i 2012 og fram til i dag. Oppgaven fokuserer på hvordan The Weeknd har brukt filmteknikker til å konstruere et fiksjonelt univers og hvorfor dette bidrar til et sterkere engasjement hos hans lyttere.

This bachelor's thesis embarks an analysis that to find out how film technique can be used in music videos to contribute to a larger and fuller experience of an artist's music. The analysis makes a deep dive into the music videos the artist The Weeknd has published from the beginning of his career in 2012 until today. The thesis focuses on how The Weeknd has used film techniques to construct a fictional universe and why this contributes to a stronger engagement with his listeners.
