Egenhetens grenser: Samtidens autentisitet

Abstract

Denne tekstens hensikt er å se nærmere på autentisitetsbegrepet i forbindelse med eksistensfilosofien, og hvordan dette kan anvendes i vår samtid. Jeg vil gå nærmere inn på den historiske sammenhengen og utviklingen av begrepet, før jeg vil fremlegge eksistensfilosofiens diverse syn på autentisk eksistens. Dette vil bli gjort først ut ifra en analyse og diskusjon rundt den tidlige eksistensfilosofien ved Kierkegaard og Nietzsche, deres fokus på selvet, og distinksjonen menneske-selv. Deretter vil det bli gjort en sammenligning av deres syn og de senere eksistensfilosofiske tenkeres fenomenologiske utgangspunkt ved Heidegger og Sartre, hvor fokuset vil ligge i tilhørigheten til verden og dens prosjekter. Videre vil det foregå en undersøkelse av autentisiteten i samtid, og særlig i forbindelse med selvrettethet, sosiale medier, og problemene denne formen for autentisitet vil innebære. Til slutt gjøres en oppsummering av diverse autentisitetsmål, før en redegjørelse og grunnlag av Heideggers autentisitetsbegrep vil bli plassert i sammenheng med forutgående autentisitetsbegrep.

The aim of this paper is to take a closer look at the concept of authenticity in relation to existentialist philosophy, and how this can be applied to a contemporary context. I will present a further analysis of the historical context and development of the concept, before presenting the existentialist philosophy's various views on authentic existence. This will be done in an analysis and discussion revolving the earlier existentialism in Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, their emphasis on the self, and the distinction between human and self. Therafter there will be a comparison of their views and the later existentialist thinkers' phenomenological starting point in Heidegger and Sartre, whereby their focus lies in the existence's connection to the world and its projects. Furthermore I will investigate authenticity in a contemporary context, especially in relation to self-directedness, the social media-phenomenon, and the problems this notion of authenticity will entail. There will, finally, be a summary of the various earlier-presented authenticity-targets, before an explanation and reason for Heideggers concept of authenticity will be placed in connection to the earlier presented notions of authenticity.
