Ungdommens mestringstillit i barneverninstitusjon

Abstract

Når hjelpetiltak i hjemmet ikke er tilstrekkelig for å sikre god nok omsorg, kan barn og unge flyttes til en barneverninstitusjon. Det jeg ønsket å undersøke i denne oppgaven er hvordan miljøterapeutene arbeider med ungdommen for å få til en endring. På bakgrunn av dette valgte jeg problemstillingen «Hvordan kan man som miljøterapeut i barneverninstitusjon bidra til ungdommens mestringstillit?». For å besvare problemstillingen benyttet jeg meg av relevant litteratur, artikler, rapporter og undersøkelser som er utført på ungdommer i det norske barnevernet. Litteraturen som blir trukket fram, er ment for å belyse og forklare elementer som vil bli tatt opp i diskusjonsdelen. Jeg fant i denne oppgaven at relasjonens betydning mellom ungdom og miljøterapeut er særlig viktig for å kunne gi god omsorg og behandling. Tillit, troverdighet og trygghet er nøkkelord for å beskrive denne relasjonen. I diskusjonsdelen diskuterer jeg hvordan man som miljøterapeut kan komme i posisjon for å hjelpe, om institusjonens miljøterapeutiske grunnstruktur og om mestringsarenaer utenfor institusjonen

When relief measures at home are not suffucient to ensure good enough care, children can be moved to a child welfare institution. In this thesis I wanted to investigate how environmental therapists are working with the children to ensure change. On the basis of this, I chose this topic question «How do you as a environmental therapist in a child welfare institution, contribute to the childrens self-efficacy?». To answer this question, I used relevant literature, articles, reports and surveys that have been conducted on children in the Norwegian child welfare service. The literature that is presented is intended to illuminate and explain elements that will be adressed in the discussion section. I found out in this thesis the importance of the relationship between the child and the environmental therapist is especially important to be able to provide good care and treatment. Trust, credibility and security are key words to describe the relationship. In the discussion section, i discuss how you, as a environmental therapist, can get in position to help, i discuss the institution’s therapeutic structure and lastly i discuss areas for for self-efficacy outside the institution.
