Regnskapsanalyse av HENT AS

Abstract

Sammendrag

I denne semesteroppgaven har vi foretatt en regnskapsanalyse av entreprenørselskapet HENT AS for årene 2016-2020. Som tilleggsmoment undersøker vi om regnskapet for 2020 viser noen klare avvik fra resten av perioden som kan relateres til Korona-pandemien. Oppgaven er bygd opp rundt to hoveddeler, den økonomiske utviklingen i selskapet og en strategisk analyse. Den økonomiske utviklingen analyseres ved å se på nøkkeltall for lønnsomhet, soliditet, finansiering og likviditet, supplert av en vertikal og horisontal analyse av momenter i regnskapet. Den strategiske analysen består av en PESTEL-analyse som ser på de eksterne forholdene som påvirker selskapet, og en mindre intern analyse av selskapets ressurser.

I innledningen av oppgaven presenteres tema og valgt problemstilling, samt en kort presentasjon av selskapet. Deretter tar vi for oss de ulike teoridelene vi benytter i analysene. Videre har vi en metodedel der vi beskriver valg og avgrensninger som er foretatt, hvordan innsamling av data har foregått og litt diskusjon rundt gyldighet og relabilitet. I neste kapittel analyserer vi den økonomiske utviklingen for HENT AS, etterfulgt av strategiske analyser av forhold omkring selskap og bransje.

Til slutt presenterer vi en konklusjon der vi kort oppsummerer et svar på problemstillingen. Konklusjonen består av momenter fra regnskapsanalysen, samt uttalelser fra selskapet omkring regnskapsåret 2020 som vi knytter opp imot de strategiske analysene vi foretok.

Abstract

In this term paper we have conducted a financial statement analysis of construction company HENT AS for fiscal years 2016 through 2020. As an additional factor, we examine whether the accounts for fiscal year 2020 show any clear deviations from the rest of the period, in relation to the Corona pandemic. The assignment is built around two main components, the financial development of the company and a strategic analysis. The analysis of the economic development consists of key economic figures for profitability, solvency, financing and liquidity, supplemented by a vertical and horizontal analysis of selected accounting items. The strategic analysis consists of a PESTEL model that examines the external conditions that affect the company, and also a minor internal analysis of the company’s resources.

The assignment starts off with an introduction to the topic we have focused on and the specific research question, as well as a short presentation of the company. Then we present the various theoretical tools that were applied in the analyzes. Furthermore, we have a method chapter where we elaborate on the choices and delimitations that were made, how data was collected and some thoughts on validity and reliability. In the next chapter we analyze the financial development for HENT AS, followed by strategic analyzes of conditions surrounding the company and its industry.

Finally, we present a conclusion in which we briefly summarize an answer to the research question. The conclusion consists of elements from the accounting analysis, as well as statements from the company regarding the fiscal year 2020, which we link to the strategic analyzes we performed.
