Lønnsomhetsanalyse av Åsen & Øvrelid AS

Abstract

Hensikten med denne bacheloroppgaven er å gjennomføre en lønnsomhetsanalyse av entreprenørselskapet Åsen & Øvrelid AS, med hovedfokus på perioden 2016-2020. Innhenting av data er basert på offentlige tall som er hentet fra Proff.no, samt at vi har gjennomført et intervju med Finn Ove Øen som er daglig leder i selskapet. Vi har også foretatt to strategiske analyser i form av en SWOT-analyse og en VRIO-analyse. I tillegg har vi en benchmark hvor vi sammenligner Åsen & Øvrelid AS med et aktuelt og konkurrerende entreprenørselskap: Veidekke Entreprenør AS.

I første del av oppgaven gir vi et innblikk i bedriften og bransjen Åsen & Øvrelid AS opererer i, samt at vi vil presentere problemstillingen. Videre vil vi legge frem teorien for regnskapsanalysen, benchmarkingen og de strategiske analysene før vi diskuterer og reflekterer over metodiske valg vi har foretatt underveis i skrivingen av oppgaven.

I analysedelen har vi tatt for oss nøkkeltallene for perioden 2016-2020. Disse har vi kommet frem til ved hjelp av formlene fra teoridelen. Videre tar vi for oss benchmarkingen med Veidekke Entreprenør AS og sammenligner lønnsomheten til de to bedriftene.

Helt til slutt vil vi presentere konklusjonen av lønnsomhetsutviklingen for Åsen & Øvrelid AS i tidsrommet 2016-2020. Her er målet å knytte sammen faktorer fra regnskapsanalysen og de to strategiske analysene for å besvare problemstillingen på best mulig måte. Her kommer vi frem til at lønnsomheten til Åsen & Øvrelid AS har vært svært god foruten om året 2017 hvor de hadde en stor nedgang. I tillegg kan vi ut ifra den stigende produksjonsindeksen for bygg- og anlegg se at de opererer i et svært lønnsomt marked.

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to perform a profitability analysis of the company Åsen & Øvrelid AS, with the main focus on the period 2016-2020. The bachelor thesis is based on public accounting figures collected from official records (www.proff.no), as well as we did an interview with the CEO of Åsen & Øvrelid AS, Finn Ove Øen. We have also performed two strategic analysis, namely a SWOT-analysis and VRIO-analysis. In addition, we have a benchmark where we compare Åsen & Øvrelid AS with a current and competing construction company: Veidekke Entreprenør AS.

In the first part of the bachelor thesis, we provide an insight into the company and the industry in which Åsen & Øvrelid AS operates, before the research question is presented. Furthermore, we will present the theory for the profitability analysis, the benchmark and the strategic analysis before we discuss and reflect on methodological choices we have made during the writing of the thesis.

In the analysis chapter, we review key financial figures for the period 2016-2020 using the formulas from the theory part. Furthermore, we perform the benchmark with Veidekke Entreprenør AS and compare the profitability of the two companies.

During our conclusion, we present the profitability development for Åsen & Øvrelid AS during the study period. Here, the goal is to link factors from the profitability analysis and the two strategic analysis in order to answer the research question in the best possible manner. We come to the conclusion that the profitability of Åsen & Øvrelid AS has been very good except in the year 2017 where they had a large decline. In addition, based on the rising production index for construction, we can see that they operate in av very profitable market.
