betydningsfullt i jobbsøkerprosessen.
fortsatte i jobben.
dc.description.abstract | The overall purpose of this qualitative study is to investigate the success factors in
unemployed youth who were facilitated to employment. This was done with the intent of
exploring in depth what is perceived as important for the youth in a job search process.
Interviews were conducted with a total of six informants, of which four were young people
who had received help and successfully became employed, and two counsellors who have
relevant knowledge and experience. The purpose for the sample was to obtain different
perspectives to gain a broad understanding of the topic. Thematic analysis was used for the
analysis.
The findings showed that there are several aspects of facilitation the young people received
that they experienced as positive for the path into working life to be successful. The main
findings indicate that social support in the form of instrumental and emotional support created
a safe environment for the youth, provided them with good tools, and a quality relationship
with the contact person who provided them with emotional support. This may mean support
can replace some of the social support that disappears when they are not in education or work.
Coping led the young people to have more faith that working life was achievable, and that the
challenges became more positive because they led to a feeling of mastery. Based on this,
coping may have led to job search efficacy, which may promote successful reemployment.
Furthermore, they were motivated by the opportunity for meaningful work and experienced
that a good workplace was essential for them to stay employed, which may indicate that
meaningful work is a need among youth, and by achieving this they experienced positive
outcomes and reduces the risk of turnover. The study argues for holistic interventions,
combine different complimentary measures, to equip unemployed youth to manage a
challenging working life and further that the measures should aim to develop resources among
youth. | |
