Memes og karikatur i skjønn politisk harmoni

Abstract

Denne oppgaven putter memes og karikatur inn i en politisk kontekst. Teorien tar for seg Richard Dawkins og Limor Shifman sine teorier om memes og Chris Tenove supplementerer Limor om politiske memes. Problemstillingen spør hvordan man med en mediearkeologisk tilnærming forstå memes og karikaturer sammenlignet med hverandre. Jeg tar kort for meg amerikansk presse og internets historie. Videre blir en meme og en karikatur tema for analysen. Analysen tar for seg likheter og ulikheter mellom de to og ulikheter og likheter generelt. Diskusjonen tar et dypdykk i en mediearkeologisk forståelse mellom de to kategoriene.

This thesis takes memes and cartoons and put them in a political context. I will use the theory from Richard Dawkins and Limor Shifman on memes and political memes. My issue is how we, with a media archaeological approach, can understand memes and caricatures compared to each other. I will clarify the concepts of remix, intertextuality and Reddit. I will briefly talk about the american press history and internets history. This is in order to be able to have a media archaeological approach to the two.The goal is to understand in which way the cartoons can be said to have led the way for political memes in the political sphere. I am keen to figure out the differences and similarities between the two and will by the help of some photo examples and other relevant concepts try to foresee the future for the two very different but also very alike phenomenons. The photos will be a meme and a caricature, both of Donald Trump.
