Vanskelige pårørende - eller pårørende som har det vanskelig?

Abstract

NORSK: Hensikten med oppgaven er å finne ut hvorfor pårørende av og til oppfattes som vanskelige og krevende av sykepleiere, og hvordan vi på en bedre måte kan takle disse situasjonene. Vi ønsket å finne ut noe om sykepleiers holdninger og tanker knyttet til dette temaet, det ble derfor til at vi valgte sykepleiers perspektiv i oppgaven. Oppgaven bygger på et litteraturstudie hvor vi har brukt forskning, faglitteratur og egne erfaringer for å komme fram til et svar på problemstillingen vår. Resultatene fra forskning har gitt oss tre temaer som vi har drøftet i oppgaven vår; kommunikasjon mellom sykepleier og pårørende, sykepleiers holdninger til pårørende og relasjoner mellom sykepleier og pårørende. Vi har kommet fram til at det er flere grunner til at sykepleier oppfatter pårørende som vanskelige; ulike forventninger til hverandre og oppfatninger av pasientens situasjon, utydelig kommunikasjon, sykepleiers negative holdninger til pårørende og mangel på kunnskap, både hos sykepleier og pårørende.

ENGLISH: The aim of this study is to find out why patient families sometimes are perceived as difficult and demanding of nurses and how we can handle these situations better. We wanted to find out something about the nurses` attitudes and thoughts related to this topic, it was therefore we chose nurses` perspective in the task. This study is based on a literature review where we have used research, literature and own experiences to come up with an answer to our problem. The results of the research have given us three topics that we have discussed; communication between nurses and the patient families, nurses attitudes to the family and relationships between nurses and the family. We have concluded that there are several reasons why nurses perceive a family as difficult; different expectations of each other and perceptions of the patients situation, communication issues, nurse's negative attitudes towards the family aswell as a lack of knowledge, both in nurses and the family.
