Hvordan kan vi bruke anvendt etnomusikologi i møte med flyktninger? Kan musikk være med på å hjelpe flyktninger til å hjelpe seg selv ved å gi de en stemme?

Abstract

Denne oppgaven omhandler anvendt etnomusikologisk arbeid med flyktninger, med fokus på hvordan musikk kan gi de en stemme og påvirkningskraft til å endre sin håpløse situasjon. Jeg har tatt utgangspunkt i prosjektet Calais Sessions og analysert videomateriale og nettsiden ved hjelp av etnomusikologisk tilnærming. Det har særlig vært fokus på hvordan flyktningene blir representert i prosjektet og hvordan deres stemme blir fremstilt. Det er mange vurderinger og refleksjoner man kan gjøre gjennom etnomusikologiske kilder om hvordan et budskap frembringes og hvem det påvirker. Likevel kommer det frem at musikk og anvendt etnomusikologi kan bidra til mye rettet mot flyktninger, dersom det brukes på riktige måte.

This assignment talks about applied ethnomusicology work with refugees, with focus on how music can give them a voice and influence to change the hopeless situation they are in. I have based the text on the project Calais Sessions and I analysed the video material and the website by using an ethnomusicological approach. Especially I have focused on the representation of the refugees in the project and how their voices are viewed. There are many reviews and reflections regarding ethnomusicological sources and how the messages comes through and how it affects. Anyhow its sure that music and applied ethnomusicology can be useful directed towards refugees, if it is used in the right way.
