This dissertation explores the relation between the transcendental investigation of the aesthetical experience and the grammatical investigation of aesthetic practices and forms of activity. The heritage of the Kantian aesthetics often underlined the free play between the faculties engaged in the aesthetic judgements of taste and the purity of the aesthetical experience. My reading of Kant draws another line. The reflective aesthetic judgment can be seen as providing another way to understand the transcendental project in Kant’s Critique of taste and puts a focus onto the engagements of taste rather than what is excluded from it. This way of reading Kant is a first step towards a grammatical shift where the aesthetical forms of practices comes into focus. At the same time, my dissertation explores if the transcendental project – as a way of responding to subjectivity – can find it’s prolongation into the investigation of the aesthetic practices. This thesis intends to show the connection between the transcendental investigation in Kantian aesthetics and the grammatical investigation in the later Wittgenstein.nb_NO
