Abstract

Tittel og problemstilling Miljøterapeuten i ungdomsgrupper.

«På hvilken måte kan miljøterapeuten påvirke det miljøterapeutiske arbeidet med ungdom i grupper?».

Innledning Jeg ble introdusert til miljøterapeutiske ungdomsgrupper i min praksisperiode, og fikk ett inntrykk av at slike grupper hadde stor effekt på barn, unge, og deres familier. Samtidig opplevde jeg at miljøterapeutene hadde en helt unik måte å forstå ungdommene i gruppen på. Dette gjorde meg nysgjerrig på sammenhengen mellom miljøterapeutens utøvelse, og effekten av gruppen.

Teori Målet med oppgaven er å utforske hvordan en miljøterapeut kan påvirke arbeidet med miljøterapeutiske grupper. Oppgaven tar for seg faglitteratur, artikler og undersøkelser om organisering av grupper, dannelsen av ett fellesskap, og miljøterapeutens personlige kompetanse. Blant annet kommer det frem at miljøterapeutiske ungdomsgrupper kan inkludere ungdommen i ett fellesskap, noe som kan bidra til å minske følelsen av ensomhet. Samtidig viser det seg at andre faktorer, som organisering av grupper, kan være med å påvirke gruppen.

Diskusjon Etter å ha valgt ut teori, for så og diskutere den sammen til en helhet, kom jeg frem til at det er stor sammenheng mellom de ulike påvirkningsfaktorene. Blant annet opplever jeg at organisering dreier seg om å legge til rette for ett fellesskap, og at dannelse av ett fellesskap i stor grad omhandler relasjonsbygging, som deretter kan ha stor sammenheng med miljøterapeutens personlige kompetanse.

Avslutning Jeg har inntrykket av at miljøterapeuten kan påvirke gruppen på mange måter. Allikevel oppfatter jeg at miljøterapeuten ikke er en behandler som kan «fikse» ungdommen i gruppen – ungdommen må selv ønske å arbeide med eget endringsarbeid.

«In what way can a milieu-therapist influence the milieu-therapeutic work with youth in groups?»

Introduction I was introduced to milieu-therapeutic youth groups during my internship and got the impression that such groups had a great effect on children, young people, and their families. At the same time, I experienced that the milieu-therapist had a unique way of understanding youth, and their families. This made me curious about the connection between the milieu-therapist´s practice, and the effect of the group.

Theory The purpose of this thesis is to explore how a milieu-therapist can influence a milieu-therapeutic group of youth. The thesis includes literature, articles and research about organization of groups, the formation of a community, and the milieu-therapists personal competence. Among other things, the theory presents that milieu-therapeutic youth groups can include the youth in a community, which can help reduce the feeling of loneliness. The theory also presents the other factors that can influence the group, such as the organization of the group.

Discussion After selecting theory, and then discussing it as a whole, I came to the conclusion that there is a great connection between the various influencing factors. For example, organization may involve enabling the possibilities of a community, and the formation of a community is mostly about building relationships, while building relationships may have a connection with the milieu-therapist`s personal competence.

Conclusion My impression is that the milieu-therapist can influence the group in many ways. At the same time, I recognize that the milieu-therapist is not someone who can “treat” or “fix” the members of the group – the youth have to willingly work on their own development.
