Kvinnerettet rusbehandling: Hvordan kan sosialarbeidere bidra til å ivareta kvinner i rusbehandling?

Abstract

Temaet i denne oppgaven er kvinnerettet behandling, og hvordan man som sosialarbeider kan utføre et faglig godt arbeid med kvinnelige pasienter i rusbehandling. Problemstillingen i denne oppgaven er «Hvordan kan sosialarbeidere bidra til å ivareta kvinner i rusbehandling?». Kvinner med rusmiddelavhengighet er en sammensatt gruppe, med ulike behov og ønsker for behandling. Samtidig ser man at kjønnsperspektivet viser seg å være gjeldende i rusbehandling. Sosialarbeideres bevissthet om kvinnespesifikke årsaksforklaringer og behov vil kunne spille en viktig rolle i tilrettelegging av tilbud for kvinner med rusmiddelavhengighet. Tilrettelegging for gode samtalekulturer ved å gi kvinnene mulighet til delta i kvinnenettverk, er et eksempel på dette. Å legge til rette for behandling som tar hensyn til eventuelle tidligere traumatiske opplevelser, og som ivaretar rusmiddelavhengige mødres behov vil også kunne være vesentlig for å kunne tilby en god kvinnerettet rusbehandling.

Sensitivitet ovenfor ulike kvinnespesifikke temaer, årsaker og behov forutsetter at sosialarbeideren klarer å se bort ifra stereotypier og egne forhåndsinnstillinger for å på best mulig måte ivareta kvinner i rusbehandling. Å ta utgangspunkt i kvinnenes endringsressurser, og anerkjenne deres styrker er viktige ledd i arbeid mot en positiv endring for kvinnene.

Sosialarbeiderens er vesentlig i arbeidet med forhold som påvirker kvinnene, også utenfor behandling. Å ta tak i kvinnens livssituasjon utenfor behandling vil kunne gjøre det mulig for kvinnen å delta mer aktivt i sin rusbehandling. Sosialarbeidere vil kunne bidra med støtte, i form av omsorg, håp og rådgiving. At kvinnene får benyttet seg av sine ressurser er viktig i det sosialfaglige arbeidet. Sosialarbeiderens kjønn vil også kunne være av betydning i arbeid med kvinnelige pasienter i rusbehandling. For å sikre kvinner med rusmiddelavhengighet en god behandling kan kjønnsperspektivet være sentralt.

The topic of this assignment is gender-responsive substance abuse treatment for women. This assignment will focus on strategies for how social workers may contribute in substance abuse treatment for women. Women with substance abuse is a diverse group of individuals with different needs and wishes for their treatment. At the same time the gender perspective turns out to be relevant when it comes to substance abuse treatment. Social workers awareness towards the background and specific needs of women with this disorder could play an important part in providing treatment. To facilitate for treatment that take caution to potential earlier trauma, and also will preserve the substance abusing mothers’ needs could be of significance. Facilitation of an environment by giving women the possibility of participating in an all-women’s group, could be an example of this.

Sensitivity when it comes to topics, causes, and needs related to women with substance abuse requires the social worker to be able to change their interpretation when tuning in on the patient’s needs. To start from the women’s alteration resources, and acknowledge their strengths is important in working towards a positive outcome for the women.

Social workers play an important role in facilitating change in the personal live of the women, outside of the treatment centres. Positively altering these conditions enables the women to focus on their treatment to a greater extent. By showing empathy and providing advice and hope, the social worker may be able to lend crucial support to the women. This in turn may enable the patients to utilise their own resources more effectively in the treatment. The sex of the social worker may also be of importance when working with women in substance abuse treatment. A gender-specific perspective could be valuable in providing substance abuse treatment for women.
