Interactivity and automation of Pepper the humanoid robot

Abstract

Denne raporten er om den fortsettelse på utviklingen av programvare for den humanoide sosiale roboten Pepper utviklet av Foxconn og SoftBank Robotics tidligere kjent som Aldebaran Robotics. Denne oppgaven ble gitt som en bacheloroppgave av NTNU i Ålesund. Formålet med denne oppgaven er å fortsette utviklingen på en Bachelor for a Pepper som trener på et sykehjem. Den fortsatte utviklingen vil fokusere på det vi trodde var den største mangelen på programmet vi fortsetter på. Den største problemet var det faktum at roboten ble kontrollert av en kontroller med alle funksjonene til roboten ble kontrollert av den kontrolleren. Det er her løsningen vår kommer inn og er spesielt fokusert på talegjenkjenning og ansiktsgjenkjenning.

This report is about the continued development on software for the humanoid social robot Pepper developed by Foxconn and SoftBank Robotics earlier known as Aldebaran Robotics. This assignment was given as a bachelor assignment by NTNU in Ålesund. The purpose of this assignment is to continue the development done on a Bachelor for a Pepper as a trainer in a nursing home. The continued development we will focus on what we though where the largest short coming in the program we are continuing. The largest short coming was the fact that the robot was getting controlled by a controller with all functions of the robot being controlled by that controller. This is where our solution comes in and is specifically focused on speech recognition and facial recognition.
