In this thesis I have investigated how LGBT-activism has used theatrical performance. The thesis is based on historical-theoretical documents and my own practice with performance art. The aim of the thesis as a whole is only to examine the aspect of how theatrical performance has been used, but also to look at the relevance of the findings in the context of the original purpose. The thesis discusses theatricality and performance for itself and highlights close readings and theory where queer activism uses the phenomena as a tool to achieve a goal.
