Partiske medier og politisk tilhørighet

Abstract

Denne oppgaven undersøker forholdet mellom media og politisk tilhørighet. Den tar for seg spørsmål om hvorvidt vi lar vår politiske tilhørighet diktere nyhetene vi leser. Oppgaven tar utgangspunkt i USA, med særlig fokus på redaksjonelle medier og sosiale medier. Den tar også for seg temaer som ekkokammer, partiske medier, algoritmer og den amerikanske valgkampen. Oppgaven konkluderer med at politisk tilhørighet har noe å si for hvor du henter nyhetene dine fra, og legger vekt på at det er forskjellige faktorer som argumenterer for dette.

This thesis examines the relationship between the media and political affiliation. It addresses the question of whether we let our political affiliation dictate the news we read. The thesis is based in the USA, with special focus on editorial media and social media. It also addresses topics such as echo chambers, biased media, algorithms and the American election campaign. The thesis concludes that political affiliation has a bearing on where you get your news from, and emphasizes that there are various factors that argue for this.
