Hva er årsaken til Østlandsbygdenes nedgang etter 1970?

Abstract

For femti år siden var det liv og røre i bygdene på Østlandet. Aktive gårdsbruk fylt av mennesker og dyr skapte et frodig livsgrunnlag ute i distriktene. Kulturen blomstret og tradisjoner ble holdt i hevd. I dag er mange av disse bygdene redusert til et minimum, hvor gårder er lagt ned, husdyrene er forsvunnet og befolkningstallet er stadig synkende. Denne oppgaven handler om Østlandsbygdenes nedgang, med hovedfokus på perioden etter 1970 og frem til i dag. Oppgaven forklarer nedgangen gjennom forskjellige temaer som bygdekultur, demografi, politikk, primærnæringer og det tradisjonelle levesettet, som til sammen har resultert i en enhetlig nedgangsprosess for hele bygdesamfunnet. Gjennom å forklare bakgrunnen for de forskjellige temaer som skapte grunnlaget for den videre utviklingen etter 1970-tallet, får leseren et innblikk i hva som har bidratt til å sette Østlandsbygdene i den sårbare posisjon de i dag befinner seg i.

Fifty years ago, the rural areas of eastern Norway were filled with life and joy. Active farms were filled with people and animals which created a healthy basis of life. The culture flowered and the old traditions were maintained. In today’s modern society, many of these areas have been reduced to a minimum, with farms shut down, the animals have vanished, and the population is still sinking. This thesis explains the decline the rural areas of eastern Norway has experienced, mainly with a focus on the period from the 1970s and until today. The thesis explains the decline through different themes, such as rural culture, demographics, politics and the traditional way of life, which all together have resulted in a decline for the whole rural society. By explaining the background for the different topics that created the foundation for the further decline after the 1970s, the reader is left with an understanding in which causes that have left the rural areas of eastern Norway in the vulnerable position it remains today.
