Om husene kunne fortelle

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven har som mål å se på hvordan husene på det lille tettstedet Svullrya kan brukes som tidsvitner i formidlingen av stedets historie. Hvordan husenes historier, spor etter bruk, arkitektur og arkivmateriale knyttet til husene kan tas i bruk. Det tas utgangspunkt 4 ulike fagteorier: stedsteori, økomuseum som modell, formidling in situ, og husene som tidsvitner. I undersøkelsen gjennomføres en stedsvandring der historien blir formidlet ved å bruke husene som objekter i sitt opprinnelige miljø. Gjennom å bruke husene som tidsvitner vil man kunne fortelle historien til stede samtidig med husenes individuelle historier, samt skildringer fra de lokale. Undersøkelsen viser at formidlingsmetoden skaper engasjement og interesse blant publikum.

Perspektivet med å se stedshistorien gjennom husenes som tidsvitner kan tilføre noen nytt om hvordan vi opplever, studerer og formidler et steds historie, samt hvilken innvirkning det kan ha på menneskene i lokalsamfunnet og mulig virkning på besøkende. Oppgaven har tilføyd et alternativt perspektiv på formidling, samt på studier av lokalhistorie.

This thesis aims to present how a group of houses in the small town of Svullrya can be used as time witnesses and used in the presentation of local history. The thesis is based on 4 kinds of different theory principles: theory of places, ecomuseum, presentation in situ and the houses as time witnesses. The material found from the houses is presented to the locals in the form of several town walks, focused on using the houses to tell the towns history through them. By using the houses as time witnesses the towns history is presented in a way that tells the story of the town’s history along with the house’s history and tales from the local community. The study shows that this method of presenting the houses is engaging and interesting for the local community.

By presenting the houses through this perspective it might lead to new methods for how we present, experience and study a towns local history. It might also lead to new ways of affecting the local community and visitors. This project presents an alternative perspective on presentation and study methods when it comes to local history.
