Universell utforming av transportmidler: Tilgjengelighet til buss, bane og tog for rullestolbrukere

Abstract

This master’s thesis in"Disability and Society" is looking into the concepts of disability and universal design and by which means we can reach the goal of universal design of public transport. It also surveys previous research in Norway about accessibility to public transport for people with impairments. Findings from an enquiry among wheelchair users about barriers in using buses, trains and trams are presented. The climate with snow and ice during the winter months are among the most significant barriers for accessibility to these vehicles for wheelchair users. The gap between the ground and the entrance of the vehicle are also still a major barrier.
