Etterlevelse av håndhygiene hos sykepleiere i sykehus

Abstract

Innledning Hensikten med denne studien var å kartlegge etterlevelse av håndhygiene hos sykepleiere ved sykehus og finne ut hvordan sykepleiere kan bidra til god etterlevelse av håndhygiene og forebygge helsetjenesteassosierte infeksjoner. Denne studien er et samarbeidsprosjekt mellom sykepleierutdanningen NTNU og et universitetssykehus.

Bakgrunn Studien tar utgangspunkt i Verdens Helseorganisasjon sine retningslinjer for håndhygiene i sykehus.

Metode Kvantitativt studie. Standardisert observasjonsskjema utarbeidet etter WHOs «My 5Moments for Hand Hygiene» er brukt for å kartlegge etterlevelse hos sykepleiere. Studiet er gjennomført i midten av mars 2020.

Resultat Resultatene viser god etterlevelse av håndhygiene for sykepleiere. Videre viser studiet at sykepleiere velger hånddesinfeksjon som første valg av håndhygiene.

Konklusjon Riktig utførelse av håndhygiene og god etterlevelse av håndhygiene hos sykepleiere kan bidra til bedre pasientsikkerhet, smittevern og forebygging av helsetjenesteassosierte infeksjoner.

Abstract

Introduction The purpose of this study was to map compliance with the hand hygiene of nurses at hospitals and find out how nurses can contribute to good compliance with the hand hygiene and prevent health-associated infections. This study is a collaborative project between the nursing education NTNU and a university hospital.

Background The study is based on the World Health Organization's guidelines for hand hygiene in hospitals.

Method Quantitative study. Standardized observation form compiled by WHO's "My 5Moments for Hand Hygiene" is used to survey compliance with nurses. The study was completed in March 2020.

Results The results show good compliance with the hand hygiene for nurses. Furthermore, the study shows that nurses choose hand disinfection as the first choice of hand hygiene.

Conclusion Proper performance of hand hygiene and good compliance with hand hygiene in nurses can contribute to better patient safety, infection control and prevention of health care-associated infections.
