This thesis work looks at uncertainties and contract management of research projects that are operating in changing environments. The study has been initiated by understanding the knowledge gap that exists in this topic area. The study will help to identify a combination of factors that can help attain a successful project even in the midst of changes, uncertainties and different kinds of contracts. Based on the research done for this master thesis, the conclusion was that a successful project is possible when there is trust between the partners, effective communication of important things happening and if the supplier strives to produce a good quality product. It was found that from the project management iron triangle quality was the aspect that the client considered very important despite the uncertainties faced or the type of contract.
