dc.description.abstractA geographical perspective on road traffic accidents in Trondheim and four school districts in the periods 1990-1999 and 2000-2009. This thesis is about the risk for traffic accidents in Trondheim and the four school districts Lade, Strindheim, Eberg and Tonstad. The focus is on the school districts and how the traffic accidents have changed between the two time periods from 1990-1999 and 2000-2009. The school districts are also analyzed in tree scenarios whit all the roads that are in contact whit the school districts, whit out Omkjøringsveien and whit out roads that are on the borderline of the school district. The total number of accidents had increased form the period 1990-1999 to the period 2000-2009, but the severity had decreased. The results according to system risk shows that the school districts Lade and Tonstad which is characterized whit shopping malls, shops, museums, institutions and industrial activity had a higher risk of getting involved in traffic accidents on local roads in both periods. For transit traffic Tonstad and Strindheim was the school districts whit highest system risk in both periods. According to health risk the Tonstad and Strindheim was the school districts with highest risk in both periods and all scenarios. Lade had a decreasing tendency from 1990-1999 to 2000-2009, while Eberg had an increasing tendency.nb_NO
