dc.description.abstract | In this chapter I focus on self-awareness as a learner. The term self-awareness is closely connected with self-knowledge and consciousness, and encompasses our ability to engage in introspection. Self-awareness enables us to be aware of our behaviors and internal thought processes, and allows us to focus our attention on ourselves to evaluate and compare what we do, our behaviors, with our internal standards and values (Duval & Wicklund, 1973b). Self-awareness in learning allows us to become aware of our own learning processes and what shapes these processes, as I will discuss in this chapter. In order to be able to approach the role of self-awareness in learning, we first need to take a closer look at learning. | nb_NO |
