The effect of macromolecular crowding with polyanions on DNA condensation
Abstract
The condensation of DNA induced by the cationic surfactant CTAB was investigated in the presence of the negatively charged macromolecule PAMAM. Surprisingly, PAMAM promotes rather than inhibits condensation, as opposed to another anionic macromolecule, PAA. Some related, minor experiments were also performed.
