International Development is concerned with social-economic assistance for individuals and or groups in developing countries. ID is also huge spending billions of dollar and a consist of projects of almost all different sectors, size, scope and are performed in almost all parts of the global. Even though it has received surprisingly little attention in Project Management literature. A common ID project share much with public projects, but has extra complexity due to among other the distance between donor (funding agency) and beneficiary, physically, in knowledge and in cultural. They also have many actors and stakeholders. This makes ID project extreme case of social-economic complexity according to (Ika and Hodgson, 2014). Project success were found to be a complex question were there exited no consensus and many different success criteria and dimensions were identified. Success were also found to be perceived, subjective and affected by time. When addressing success in ID projects it was suggested that three macro dimensions were used, these were labeled, efficiency, effectiveness (from general PM literature ) and Impact that are maybe not unique for ID, but are given much higher emphasis than in non-ID projects Success factors were identified as variables that affected project success and could be used as levers to increase project success. Many success factors were identified either in articles concerning universal factors, contextual (Global and High uncertainty and high complexity projects) or on ID projects specifically. The success factors identified have been compared and evaluated, to identify .. common factors that could be related to ID projects. These factors were at the end presented in the results in a proposed framework consisting of three parameters, Owner, Phase and Success macro dimension. It is argued that this new framework with it s success factors could give valuable support to practitioners as management supporten
