radiografer ute i praksis.
dc.description.abstract | Research question: What challenges do radiographers think the face during examination of
children in conventional x-ray, and how do they solve these challenges?
Purpose: We have got the impression that there is relatively little information and practice in
children’s radiography in the education. The purpose will be to gather information from
radiographers in order to learn from their experiences with children in the radiologic section.
Method: In order to gather information about radiographers’ experiences with children, we chose
a qualitative method. We used a semi-structured interview with 10 preestablished questions. Our
informants were radiographers out in the field. We used Malterud’s analysis to analyze our
material.
Result: Through our interviews we got many solutions on how to deal and communicate with
children. We found out that communication is the biggest challenge when it came to children at
age 2-5. We also found out how to solve different challenges, how parents can help us to improve
the x-ray examination, how to distract children and how to make the child lay still on the x-ray
table etc.
Conclusion: It is essential to win trust and security in the children, and act differently in different
situations with regards to the child’s age and cognitive development. Communication is important
in order to achieve this. It is also important for the radiographer to gather knowledge themselves,
since it is so little focus on treatment of children during education.
