Standard 9410:2016. Her brukes grabb som redskap for å undersøke bunntilstand. Dagens
Resultatene indikerer at
dc.description.abstract | Today's environmental surveys at fish farms are carried out in accordance with the Norwegian Standard 9410: 2016, where the sediment sampler is used as a tool to investigate seabed conditions. Recent technology development has provided new solutions for using video in environmental surveys, a tool that is not commonly used in today’s practices. This study examines the use of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) as a monitoring method of seabed conditions. As part of the study, an opinion poll was carried out to map out industry peoples' thoughts on improving today's environmental surveys. A ROV study was also conducted and compared with previously completed MOM surveys and hard-seabed studies. The ROV examination went along transects and included sediment sampling. The most important finding in the opinion-poll was that most participants believed that using video could improve the quality of the environmental impact assessments of fish farming. When collecting sediment, it was found that small movements of the ROV lead to different results. It was also observed that species mapping can easily be carried out by using video analysis. The results indicate that ROV has great potential as a tool for environmental monitoring and that current MOM surveys do not reveal as much information as a ROV has the opportunity to. Including ROVs in today's standard for seabed surveys can benefit both the aquaculture industry and the environment. | |
