From Blockchain Utopia to Commercial Success - A study on how blockchain-based home-sharing startups can succeed in the sharing economy
Abstract
In this master thesis, we investigate how blockchain-based home-sharing startups can succeed in the sharing economy. We approach our problem statement by developing a set of research questions, in which we aim to answer by analyzing customer behaviour in current shared accommodation services, such as AirBnb, in addition to providing insight on how already established blockchain-based home-sharing startups are operating. Further, we discuss our findings in relation to relevant theories regarding disruptive innovation, two-sided markets and business model design. We also provide implications for startups, society and further research.
