Abstract
The scope of this thesis consists in the modeling of a small part of the low voltage distribution grid and to model and compare 2 technologies that are able to regulate the voltage at some nodes of the grid. The first technology that is investigated is the Magnetic Voltage Booster (MVB) based on the Magnetic Controllable Inductor technology developed by the company Magtech$^{AS}$. First some assumptions are made in order to model the MVB and his behaviour is then compared to the second technology, namely, the Static Compensator based on the Voltage Source Converter technology. Throughout 3 phases transient simulation where short circuit and motor start are simulated, the advantages and the inconvenient of each technology are analysed.
