dc.description.abstract | Fault displacement and polarity are key controls on basin architecture, and investigating these controls can give valuable information about the structure in extensional regions. In this thesis 2D seismic surveys have been used to interpret faults and three important horizons in the extensional area the northern North Sea. The interpretation was used to analyze large- and small- scale polarity changes within the study area, and to understand the structural framework of the region. In the northern North Sea a large scale polarity change can be observed from north-west to south-east, in the south-east boundary faults dip west, and in the north-west most major boundary faults dip east. | nb_NO |
