The master thesis area is located in the North Viking Graben, in blocks 30/7, 10 and11. The NVG05 3D dataset also covers several UK blocks in quadrant 3. TheNorwegian side has been the main focus since the probability for further exploration isgreater here. This area is subjected to tectonic activity in Early Jurassic which givesaccommodation space for syn tectonic Upper Jurassic and post tectonic LowerCretaceous sediments. Several reservoir sandstones have been penetrated on UKCS in Lower Cretaceous andUpper Jurassic, but not on NCS. Norwegian North Sea have had several deeper targetswhich have penetrated Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous. However these havebeen totally dominated by fine grained, non-reservoir sequences because they aredrilled on structural highs which are not favorable for deep marine clasticsedimentation. The main focus in this thesis is finding turbidite sands in the structural lows byinterpreting the structural features, producing time, isochore and attribute maps to deriskthe reservoir presence.nb_NO
