Sammendrag
The Norwegian Parliament made in June 2012, a resolution on moving the national main air base from Bodø in the county of Nordland to Ørland in the county of Sør-Trøndelag. Bodø is an urban city with all it`s facilities and Ørland is a rural environment with about 10 % of Bodøs population, and then off course less offers when it comes to culture, sparetime activities and work for spouses.

How do the Airforces` employees located in Bodø, look at this new situation? Will they move with their workplace or will they leave the Airforce? And in which way do the places themselves make an impact on the decision on moving or staying? With these questions I entered a field in which I supposed had some wounds after the battle on localization of the airbase. I suspected even that there might be some restraining attitudes towards the question on moving. My main focus was still on how the informants relation with the places, might have had an impact on the decision.

Theory of place has been the underlying theory in this report. I started out, getting into the identity of the places, then the identity with the places was an item. Sence of place, globalization, belonging, home as a concept and general push and pull factors, have all been issues in the interwiews and the following discussion.

I have taken qualitative interwiews in use as methods, and added secondary sources as reports from the Government, from the Norwegian Armed Forces and from Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research. In a qualitative scientific report, there should not be made any clear conclusions in such. There are still some, in my point of wiew, very clear answers from the informants participating in this study. I mainly found that the informants are not very willing to move, despite the fact that the workplace are to be moved. It is also safe to say that most of the informants are concerned about what Ørland has to offer beside a job in the Airforce.
