Stavanger-Sør - Bønder i byen : en kvalitativ studie av planprosessen bak næringsparken Stavanger-Sør og næringsparkens trafikale ringvirkning på nærmiljø og region
Abstract
The essence of this master’s thesis is urban planning and by using qualitative research methods such as interview and document analysis, the thesis will answer the two main research questions in this case study. It will be addressed how one can understand the underlying planning process in the Stavanger-Sør real estate development in the Hillevåg neighbourhood in Stavanger, Norway. The thesis will also address the business park’s possible effects on traffic in the local community as well as the existing business park Forus. Interviews were conducted during January 2015 in Stavanger, and the interviewees were the Managing Director of the private developer Stavanger-Sør, and two city planners in the
Stavanger municipality. This thesis will argue that there are clear similarities between theories on governance and the planning process between Stavanger-Sør and Stavanger municipality. The traffic impact Stavanger-Sør business park will have on its surroundings will depend on the municipality’s willingness to change their favouritism towards the business park on Forus, and instead provide incentives for more sustainable development closer to the city center and
the public transport hubs.
