Abstract
The thesis consists of four papers that can be read separately. The papers involve analyses and modelling of residential energy demand. Through my work I have derived a nonlinear time-series econometric model and a deterministic model for energy demand based on differential equation (Papers I and II). I have analysed Norwegian energy efficiency programmes using the IEA triangulation model (Paper III). Further I have been working with time-series data for energy use for the Scandinavian countries, by carrying out comparative analyses and decomposition of energy use, applying an indicator approach (Paper IV). Analyses of energy use and demand have been a common denominator for the work that is carried out in this thesis.
