Epidemiological studies in hereditary hemochromatosis: Prevalence, morbidity and benefit of screening
Abstract
The basis for this thesis is a population-based screening program for hereditary hemochromatosis, carried out in Nord-Trøndelag County in Norway, as a part of The HUNT Study 1995-97. The main purpose of the screening program was to detect cases of hereditary hemochromatosis in order to prevent complications from the disease, in accordance with medical knowledge at that time.
