Ergoterapi i arbeidsrettet rehabilitering for unge utenfor arbeidslivet

Abstract

Innledning/bakgrunn: Arbeid en viktig del av samfunnslivet. Mange forbinder arbeidsdeltakelse med et godt hverdagsliv og tilhørighet til felleskapet. Unge som står utenfor arbeidslivet har blitt en alvorlig samfunnsutfordring. Det finnes lite forskning om ergoterapeutens konkrete bidrag og rolle inn i en arbeidsrettet rehabiliterings kontekst for brukergruppen. Bacheloroppgavens formål er å innhente ergoterapeuters erfaringer innenfor arbeidsrettet rehabilitering med unge med sammensatte utfordringer som står utenfor arbeidslivet, og deres bidrag til arbeidsdeltakelse.

Metode: I denne oppgaven har det blitt gjennomført seks kvalitative, semistrukturerte forskningsintervju av ergoterapeuter med erfaring innen arbeidsrettet rehabilitering. I analyseprosessen av dataene ble det benyttet et tematisk analyse-verktøy.

Resultater: Fra analysen ble det identifisert tre hovedtemaer rundt ergoterapeuters erfaringer. Dette er: ergoterapeutens møte med brukerne, ergoterapeutens helhetlige kompetanse og ergoterapeutens samspill med aktører.

Konklusjon: Erfaringene fra informantene understreker viktigheten av et helhetlig perspektiv i møte med de unge brukere. Individuell tilrettelegging der ergoterapeuten legger til rette for mestring og stiller krav til brukerne ved å engasjere de i sin egen prosess er fokusområder. Det kommer frem i resultatene at relasjonsbygging er avgjørende for rehabiliteringsforløpet. Dette kan bidra til en økt følelse empowerment og utviklingen av en arbeidsidentitet hos brukerne. Videre er det behov for forskning rundt samhandling mellom tjenestene for å kunne bedre tjenesteførløpet. Effekten og opplevelsen av ansvarliggjøring hos brukerne kan også være interessant å undersøke videre.

Introduction/Background: Work is an important aspect of societal life. Many associate work-participation with a good quality of life and a sense of belonging to the community. Unemployed youth have become a serious challenge in society. There is limited research on the specific contributions and role of occupational therapists within a vocational rehabilitation context for this user group. The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to gather occupational therapists' experiences within vocational rehabilitation for young people with complex challenges who are outside the workforce, and their contribution towards work-participation.

Method: In this study, six qualitative, semi-structured research interviews were conducted with occupational therapists experienced in work-oriented rehabilitation. In the data analysis process, a thematic analysis tool was utilized.

Result: From the analysis, three main themes were identified regarding occupational therapists' experiences. These are: the occupational therapists’ encounter with users, the occupational therapists’ comprehensive competence, and the occupational therapists’ interaction with stakeholders.

Conclusion: The experiences from the informants underscore the importance of a holistic perspective when encountering young users. Individual adaptation, where the occupational therapist facilitates self-efficacy and sets demands on the users by engaging them in their own process, is a focal point. The results reveal that building relationships is crucial for the rehabilitation process. This can contribute to an increased sense of empowerment and the development of a work-identity among users. Furthermore, there is a need for research on collaboration between services to improve the service trajectory. Exploring the effect and experience of empowerment among users could also be of further interest.
