Lend-Lease og Murmansk: Sovjetunionens åre i Barentshavet.

Abstract

Sammendrag. Oppgaven skal hovedsakelig undersøke Lend-Lease, hvor teksten i helhet dreier seg rundt Lend-Lease i redegjørelsen som skal sette konteksten og forståelsen for tiden og situasjonen som førte til at Lend-Lease ble godkjent som lov. Oppgaven skal finne svar på hva Lend-Lease var, hvorfor USA valgte å forsyne Sovjetunionen under andre verdenskrig med Lend-Lease, hva slags betydning Lend-Lease hadde for den Sovjetiske krigsinnsatsen og hvor viktig havnebyen Murmansk var for Lend-Lease forsyningen. Dette gjøres ved å anvende tidligere troverdig forskning som et grunnlag som analysen skal så bygges ut ifra. En kronologisk fremgangsmetode som sammenlikner hvordan utviklingen av Lend-Lease forsyninger, noe som viser til hvilke interne behov Sovjetunionen hadde som ikke kunne bli forsynt fra intern produksjon. Logistiske utfordringer med transporten av Lend-Lease til Sovjetunionen fra øst eller vest, samt interne logistiske utfordringer vil bli inkludert for å lettere fokusere på deler av Lend-Lease forsyningene og ikke alt. The assignment will mainly examine Lend-Lease, where the text as a whole revolves around Lend-Lease in the account which will set the context and understanding for the time and situation that led to Lend-Lease being approved as law. The assignment will find answers to what Lend-Lease was, why the USA chose to supply the Soviet Union during World War II with Lend-Lease, what kind of significance Lend-Lease had for the Soviet war effort and how important the port city of Murmansk was for the Lend-Lease supply. This is done by using previous credible research as a basis from which the analysis will then be built upon. A chronological progression method that compares how the development of Lend-Lease supplies, which shows what internal needs the Soviet Union had that could not be supplied from internal production. Logistical challenges with the transport of Lend-Lease to the Soviet Union from the East or West, as well as internal logistical challenges will be included to more easily focus on parts of the Lend-Lease supplies and not all. This should provide an explanation for how Lend-Lease allowed the Soviet Union to invest in the defense sector to a greater extent than they otherwise could have done alone.
