behandlinger i psykiatrien.
dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research is to examine what has been published by senior physicians
about treatments in psychiatry. This is to learn about an important part of how the medical
science has gotten to where it is today, even though the process of ‘perfectioning’ never will
be done one must say the journey towards the goal is very interesting. Some of the things we
used as treatments in “the old days” are still being used today, but in a different way than the
original purpose, such as central stimulating drugs and leeches. The paper is a historiography
as a whole as I in a large degree are republishing the articles, and the research question here is
“What did psychiatric senior physicians publish about psychiatric treatments in the period
from and with WW1 to WW2?” The articles I have taken on are in the period of 1914 to 1938,
and is by three different psychiatrists in Norway: Harald Arnesen, Hans Eduard Evensen and
Rolv Ragnarsønn Gjessing. What we will see is that Charles Darwin had a certain influence in
the idea about inheritance and environment, and that Freud, Pavlov and Watson may have had
some influence as of the huge attention surrounding their views and publications within the
respective fields they belonged to. | |
