Hvordan kan sykepleiere fremme mestring hos pasienter med Hidradenitis Suppurativa?

Abstract

Bakgrunn: Hidradenitis Suppurativa er en omfattende inflammatorisk hudsykdom som manifesterer seg som abscesser, byller, fistelganger og inflammasjon, som oftest i intime områder der hud møter hud, som i underlivet, under brystene, på setet, i lysken og i armhuler. Prevalensen i Europa antas å ligge på 1% av befolkningen, men grunnet mørketall og feildiagnostisering, er prevalensen estimert til å ramme 1-4% av befolkningen.

Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven var å belyse hvilke psykiske faktorer som påvirker livskvaliteten hos pasienter med Hidradenitis Suppurativa, og hvordan sykepleiere kan fremme mestring på disse områdene.

Metode: Metoden er et litteraturstudie som benytter kvalitative, kvantitative og review artikler. Litteraturstudien inneholder 7 artikler. Databasene som ble brukt for søkene er Cinahl og PubMed.

Resultat: Analyseprosessen avdekket fire hovedtemaer. Temaene var skam, behov for veiledning og støtte, svekket seksuell helse og depresjon.

Konklusjon: Litteraturstudien belyser behovet for et mer rettet fokus på mental helse hos pasienter med Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Ved hjelp av en god relasjon, god kommunikasjon, veiledning og støtte kan sykepleiere bidra til å fremme mestring hos pasienter med Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

Background: Hidradenitis Suppurativa is comprehensive inflammatory dermatosis which manifests as abscesses, boils, fistulas and inflammation, often found in intimate areas where skin meets skin, such as the crotch area, breast area, the groin area and under armpits. The prevalence in Europe is assumed to be at around 1% of the population, but because of the dark figure and misdiagnosis, the prevalence is estimated to affect 1-4% of the population.

Purpose: The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to enlighten which psychological factors affect the quality of life in pasients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, and how nurses can promote coping in these areas.

Method: The method used is a literature study which includes qualitative, quantitative and review articles. This litterature study includes 7 such articles. The databases used were Cinahl and PubMed.

Result: The analasis uncovered four main themes. These themes were shame, the need for guidance and support, impaired sexual health and depression.

Conclusion: This litterature study enlightens the need for a more direct focus on mental health in patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa. By building a good relation, good communication, giving guidance and support, nurses can contribute to promote coping in patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
