Utviklingshemming og seksualitetsopplæring - En litteraturstudie

Abstract

Sammendrag

Introduksjon: Det kan vise seg at det er begrensninger i mennesker med utviklingshemming sin seksualkunnskap. Vi som tjenesteytere jobber tett opp mot denne gruppen, og har et ansvar for å formidle informasjon om dette.

Hensikt: Denne bacheloroppgaven er en litteraturstudie som ønsker å belyse mulige årsaker til mangelfull opplæring innenfor seksualitet blant mennesker med utviklingshemming.

Metode: Denne bacheloroppgaven benytter seg av litteraturstudie som metode, hvor fem forskningsartikler skal analyseres.

Resultat: Resultatene i de fem forskningsartiklene la grunnlag til diskusjon av to temaer. Det første gikk ut på å belyse det faktum som ligger til grunnlag i problemstillingen, som er at utviklingshemmede mangler kunnskap om temaet seksualitet. Det andre temaet belyser hvordan holdninger kan være en mulig faktor.

Konklusjon: Litteraturstudien konkluderer med at vi som tjenesteutøvere bør være bevisst på egne holdninger overfor seksualitet og utviklingshemming, og hvordan dette kan påvirke kvaliteten av den utøvende helsehjelpen vi tilbyr. I tillegg vil dette kunne påvirke informasjonen overført fra tjenesteutøver til tjenestemottaker.

Summary

Indtroduction: It turns out that there is a possible limitation regarding the sexual knowledge of people with developmental disabilities. As health care providers, we work close with this group, and are responsible for deliver information about this topic.

Purpose: This bachelor’s thesis is a literature study that attempt to shed a light on possible reasons for insufficient education in sexuality among people with developmental disabilities.

Method: This bachelor’s thesis uses literature study as a method, where five research articles are to be analyzed.

Result: The results in the five research articles laid the basis for discussion for two chosen topics. The first was to shed light on the fact that is the basis of the problem, which is that the developmentally disabled lack knowledge about the subject of sexuality. The second theme highlights how attitudes can be a possible factor.

Conclusion: The literature study concludes that we as health care providers should be aware of our own attitudes towards sexuality and developmental disabilities, and how this can affect the quality of the health care we offer. In addition, this could affect the information transferred from the health care worker to the service recipient.
