The Civil War of Spain was a conflict were the ideologies of communism and Fascism clashed. Britain, despite the involvement of Germany, Italy, and Soviet, decided to maintain a non-interventionistic stance towards the conflict. The conclusion of the conflict led General Franco to power and a fascistic government ruled Spain from 1939. The regimes non-belligerency in WW2 was heavily affected by the British both political pressure, as well as diplomacy towards Spain. The question which is discussed revolves around the agendaes that created the foundation of the British thoughts on the Franco-regime.
