Abstract

Innføringen av Krag-Jørgensen-geværet var resultatet av 1800-tallets teknologiske utviklinger, og Norges nasjonalisering av militæret. Geværet var i militær bruk fra 1894 helt til slutten av andre verdenskrig, og helt til 90-tallet som idrettsgevær. Våpenet hadde sine for- og bakdeler, og var et interessant eksempel av de nye våpenteknologiene som kom fram mot slutten av 1800-tallet.

The introduction of the Krag-Jørgensen rifle was the result of the technological developments of the 1800s, as well as the nationalization of the Norwegian military. The rifle was in military use from 1894 until the end of the Second World War, and all the way into the 90’s as a sports rifle. The weapons had its pros and cons, and was an interesting example of the new firearms technologies that arose towards the end of the 19th century.
