What is passion? An investigation of the relationships between passion, personality and humour in athletes

Abstract

Rollen til menneskelig atferd er alltid interessert forskere. Viktige aspekter ved å forstå atferd er lidenskap, personlighetstrekk og humor. Forskere har lenge brukt disse temaene for å prøve å forklare deler av atferd. Men hvordan samhandler disse tredelene? Denne studien vil undersøke forholdet mellom lidenskap, personlighetstrekk og humor. Dataene i denne studien er levert av en utlevert spørrestiller. Det antas at personlighetstrekkene Sensations Seeking, Activity og Extraversion er knyttet til Passion Score, og at affiliativ og selvforsterkende humorstil er knyttet til Passion Score. Resultatene støttet kun den første av de to hypotesene. Resultatene diskuteres med tidligere forskning og den underliggende mekanismen til variablene sammenlignes og diskuteres.

The role of human behaviour is always interested researchers. Important aspects of understanding behaviour are passion, personality traits and humour. Researchers have long used these topics to try to explain parts of behaviour. But how do these tree parts interact? This study will investigate the relationship between passion, personality traits and humour. The data in this study is supplied by a handed-out questioner. It’s hypothesised that the personality traits Sensations Seeking, Activity and Extraversion is linked with Passion Score and that Affiliative and Self-Enhancing humour style is linked Passion Score. The results only supported the first of the two hypotheses. The results are discussed with previous research and the underlying mechanism of the variables are compared and discussed.
