dc.description.abstract
A quantitative analysis of intention to ride a shared electric scooter under the influence of alcohol in a representative sample of people in Trondheim, Norway. The data collection primarily happened at two shopping centres, some additional young participants were recruited digitally as well. While existing studies have found some predictors for riding under the influence (RUI), a structured review of these focused on shared e-scooters did not exist. The present thesis studied predictors in three categories: Demographic variables, risk perception and transport priorities. A principal components analysis of transport priorities and hierarchical regression of all the predictors was used to identify the influence of different predictors on intention to RUI. Of the predictors included in the hypotheses, the risk perception variables worry about RUI and severity assessment were the strongest, followed by age and the transport priorities, safety and convenience. However, another variable, frequency of FFES use, was found to be as strong as worry, indicating that familiarity with using FFES could be important. Further studies could benefit from greater depth and possibly qualitative methods.
