Helsetilbudet til pasientgruppen er ofte fragmentert, som et resultat av at pasientens plager ikke vurderes i et helhetlig perspektiv, med en biopsykososial forståelse. Unge voksne (18-26 år) skiller seg fra både barn og voksne, grunnet egne fysiske og psykiske utfordringer knyttet til det å være i denne aldersgruppen.
Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å belyse pasienters og helsepersonells erfaringer knyttet til pasientgruppens møte med helsevesenet. Herunder undersøke hvilke behov og forutsetninger sykepleier må ha kjennskap til i tilnærmingen, for å fremme trygghetsfølelse hos unge voksne med somatoforme smertelidelser.
Metode: Litteraturstudie med en kvalitativ metodetilnærming er brukt som metode i oppgaven. Søk i databaser ble utført i Medline (ovid), CINAHL complete og PsycINFO, med supplerende søk i Embase. Oppgaven er basert på syv vitenskapelige artikler, lokalisert i de anvendte databasene.
Resultat: Fire hovedtemaer står fram som sentrale aspekter i tilnærmingen til unge voksne med somatoforme smertelidelser; holdninger, relasjon, kunnskap og kommunikasjon. Sykepleiers anerkjennelse, empati og forståelse overfor pasientens subjektive smerter er av betydning. Relasjonsdannelsen bygger på tillit, god oppfølging, kontinuitet og tilgjengelighet. Sykepleiers og pasienters forståelse av sykdommen samt sykepleiers forståelse av pasientgruppens særegne behov for kommunikasjon.
Konklusjon: Oppgaven belyser hvilke aspekter ved tilnærmingen som fremmer trygghetsfølelse. Anerkjennelse og empati er holdninger som er med på å validere pasientens opplevelse av smertene. En anerkjennende relasjon, basert på tillit og kontinuitet, skaper forutsigbarhet og styrke pasientens mestringstro. Tilstrekkelig informasjonsformidling bidrar til økt sykdomsforståelse. Ved å tilpasse innholdet i informasjonen ut i fra pasientens behov og forutsetninger, imøtekommes pasientenes informasjonsbehov. Aktiv lytting og strukturering av samtaler sikrer god kommunikasjon. The health care for this patient group is often fragmented, which is a result from the fact that their symptoms is not assessed in a holistic perspective, with a biopsychosocial understanding. Young adults (18-26 years) differ from both children and adults, due to separate physical and mental challenges related to this age group.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to illuminate patients and health care personnel’s experiences related to the patients encounter with the health service. Hereby to examine the needs and prerequisites nurses must be familiar with how to approach the patient group.
Method: The method of this study is a literature is a review. In the search of articles, the following databases were used; Medline (Ovid), CINAHL complete and PsycINFO, with a supplementary search in Embase. This thesis is based on seven journal articles from the said databases.
Result: Four themes emerge as key aspects in the approach to young adults with somatoform pain disorders; attitudes, relation, knowledge and communication. Nurse’s recognition, empathy and understanding towards the patient’s subjective pain is important. The relation is based on trust, follow-up, continuity and availability. The nurses and the patients understanding of the ailment, as well as the nurses understanding of the patient group’s distinctive need for communication.
Conclusion: The study illuminates which aspects of the approach that promotes a sense of security. Recognition and empathy are attitudes that helps validate the patient's experience of the pain. The relation should be based on trust and continuity, creates predictability and strengthens patients' belief in mastering their disease. An adequate dissemination of information contributes to an increased understanding of the ailment. The patients’ information needs are met by adapting the content based on the patient’s need and prerequisites. Active listening and structure in the conversations, secures good communication.
