PFAS i skismøring og deres effekter på mennesker

Abstract

Fluorstoffer har lenge vært brukt i skismøring da det gir gunstige effekter på glid, men hvordan kan perfluorkjemikalier (PFAS) i skismøring påvirke personer som håndterer disse stoffene? Studier har vist at det kan være flere ulike helsekonsekvenser knyttet til bruken av disse stoffene, og det går nå mot et forbud mot fluorholdig skismøring. Formålet med denne oppgaven er å se på hvordan PFAS-er kan utgjøre risiko for mennesker og om personell som jobber med påføring av fluorholdig skismøring er ekstra utsatt.

Fluorinated compounds are used in ski wax due to their unique surfactant properties, but how can per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in ski wax affect the people handling these chemicals? Studies have shown that there could be several health consequences linked to the use of these substances, and a ban of fluorinated compounds might be reasonable. The purpose of this thesis is to see how PFASs might pose a risk for people and if personnel working with fluorinated ski wax is particularly exposed.
