In this bachelor thesis I have examined how education effect how people view religious immigration. More specifically, I focused on how Muslim and Christian immigration to Norway is perceived. Based on the results of these analyzes, I compared the importance of education regarding the view on these two forms of religious immigration. The data which these surveys are based on was taken from the European Social Survey of 2014 which focused on the topic of immigration. In line with previous research, the regression analyzes showed that years of education has an impact on views on immigration. More specifically, the results portrayed that education has a positive effect on Norwegians view on Muslim immigration, and a negative effect on whether it is considered important for immigrants to have a Christian background. The results are interpreted in the light of previous research as well as Bourdieu’s concept of habitus. Hence the results are portrayed in a sociological light which can highlight connections that exist between education and views on religious immigration. The thesis thus concludes that the length of education significantly influences the view on Muslim and Christian immigration to Norway. In the former results it seems that the more years of education you complete, the more willing you are to welcome Muslim immigrants to Norway. The latter points out that a higher number of years of education leads to a notion that it is less important that immigrants have a Christian background.
