To stay competitive in the future, industrialists must be prepared to adopt the imminent changes and new technologies associated with Industry 4.0. These changes apply equally to the field of maintenance, which is also developing quickly. The focus on the use of electronics and computer technology for process automation, manufacturing, and maintenance has significantly increased the level of performance for industrialists. Along with the increased use of technology and enhanced competition in a global market, indicators for measuring industrialist’s performance are important as never before. Within the field of maintenance there is acknowledged a number of indicators essential for enabling World Class Maintenance (WCM), such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). However, an indicator for measuring performance of planned maintenance stops is a rather untouched area. Moreover, these planned maintenance stops are traditionally seen as an accepted type of waste, and the focus on continuous improvement within these stops has been absent, meaning there is an unused potential. Thus, the aim of this paper is to present a concept for an indicator measuring the level of performance of planned maintenance stops, and to discuss how this indicator will support continuous improvement. The paper will also present an overview, with focus on indicators, within maintenance management and performance management.nb_NO
