A gravitational core sampler have been converted into a passive sampler by the design and manufactoring of a sampler component able to attach to the existing sampler system. Field tests were done by use of R/V Gunnerus in the Trondheim fjord, where a routine for the use of the sampler system was established. Capsules for POM samplers were also designed and manufactured but not tested due to monetary limitations. The laboratory analysis proved some difficulties, and raised doubt to some of the results, but through the monitoring of the covering material inside Trondheim harbour basin, it was found that the sediments are in general good condition. In addition, significant differences in concentrations of pollutants was found between locations within Trondheim harbour basin, but the levels were still within acceptable thresholds.en
