dc.description.abstract | China is growing rapidly in economic relations with several states in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and the relationship is steadily increasing in intensity. The speed and dynamics of such a change have led to legitimate questions about what kind of influence China has on the region's economic and political development. It also follows naturally to ask the questions: how is the region's geostrategic relationship with the United States affected by China's increased presence? Analyzes assume that on in the long term poor geo-economic participation in LAC from the US will lead to the region becoming more exposed to influence from China. If the United States wants to continue as a hegemonic leader in the region, active choices must be made to maintain its strategic position.
